At 12:50PM, numerous showers and thunderstorms were located over south-central and southwest Florida moving north-northeast at 45mph. These storms should move into east-central Florida between 1:30 and 3 this afternoon. They currently are producing lightning and 35-45mph wind gusts. The atmosphere is favorable for possible intensification.
A line of severe thunderstorms is located between Tampa and Jacksonville, and well out into the eastern Gulf of Mexico. This would arrive in the local area later this afternoon, persisting well into the evening. The storms ahead of the line may weaken and stabilize this to some degree. If there’s minimal weakening, expect dangerous lightning, widespread 45-65mph wind gusts, and isolated tornadoes.
